SUMMARY: Assists with supervising the playground before school and during recess periods to ensure the security and safety of all students in support of District Board goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitors the students during recess for correct use of playground equipment
- Instructs students on rules of playground; prevents fights and resolves conflicts
- Monitors playground to deter unauthorized visitors
- Promotes positive student behavior by setting a good example and treating all students with respect and courtesy
- Ensures student safety in both outdoor and indoor activity areas (when required);
- Monitors all playground equipment and grounds for safety
- Maintains visual and auditory awareness of events on playground
- Addresses behavioral problems and determines disciplinary actions
- Provides support and encouragement documents and reports incident provides minor first aid
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of District rules, regulations, policies and procedures
- Knowledge of playground supervision and monitoring practices
- Knowledge of age appropriate behavioral management methods and techniques
- Knowledge of principles customer service methods and techniques
- Ability to speak and read English Proficiently
- Skill in working with, monitoring and supervising students on the playground
- Skill in providing a safe play environment for students
- Skill in providing direction, suggestion and encouragement to students
- Skill in written and oral communications
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Six (6) months’ work experience prior childcare and supervision experience (Preferred)
- Criminal justice/Fingerprint clearance
- Maintain requirements for access to Fort Huachuca
Any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that meets minimum requirements
Computer Proficiency: Demonstrated general proficiency in computer programs such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and job specific computer programs.

Indoor and outdoor classroom environment. This position regularly works indoors. The noise level in the work environment is generally quiet to moderate and may become excessively noisy at times. Will have contact with employees, external agencies and the public. May be exposed to infectious diseases, air, water and bodily fluid borne pathogens.
